OPEN HEARTED captures the most harrowing ordeal of my life — experiencing and recovering from my third open-heart surgery at the ripe age of 27. Not only do I come to terms with my own mortality, I have to deal with my neurotic Jewish mother who hasn’t seen my dad for years. Making this film almost killed me.
